Preparation for Work

Requirements for Product Preparation

The product does not require mixing.

Before starting work, allow the mastic and application equipment to stand for at least 24 hours in a heated room with an air temperature of 15°C to 25°C.

If necessary, the mastic can be diluted with clean tap water to the desired viscosity (no more than 5% by weight). After dilution, mix the mastic to a homogeneous mass for 5 minutes using a mixer with a spiral attachment at a speed of 300-450 rpm.

Requirements for Application Conditions

The ambient air temperature should be from +5°C to +35°C.

The temperature of the mastic before application should be from +15°C to +25°C.

Requirements for Surface Preparation

Concrete and Other Mineral Foundations:

Clean the surface from contaminants, dust, construction debris, and oils. Dry thoroughly.

Even out the surface, remove protrusions, weak parts of the foundation, and fill cracks and cavities with a suitable composition for the foundation.

Metal:

To prepare the metal base, perform abrasive treatment manually using sandpaper or with the use of a grinding tool. After abrasive treatment, clean the surface, degrease it with a solvent, and let it dry.

To enhance corrosion resistance and improve coating adhesion, use the primer composition «Himtrust Primer-VM 2K.» Apply the product after the primer has fully cured.

Rubberoid:

Clean the surface from contaminants, dust, construction debris, and oils. Dry thoroughly.

Remove protrusions and weak elements of the base. Fill in cavities, cracks, and other coating damage with a composition suitable for the base.

Polyurethane:

It is permissible to apply the mastic to polyurethane foam (PUF) with a density of not less than 40 kg/m3, for example, obtained from the Himtrust SKN-40 G3 component system. The PUF should be allowed to stand for 3 hours after spraying to complete polymerization reactions, cooling, and the removal of volatile components. Afterward, apply the primer composition Himtrust Primer-VM 2K. Apply the product after the primer has fully cured.

Safety Measures

When working indoors, ensure ventilation.

Use personal protective equipment: special clothing, gloves, footwear, safety goggles.

If the product comes into contact with the skin, remove it with a cotton swab or cloth, then wash the skin with warm soapy water. Consult a doctor if irritation persists.

If the product gets into the eyes, rinse with a large amount of water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs.

Application Method

Application Equipment

The primer and main layer of the mastic are applied using a brush, roller, spatula, or airless spraying equipment with high pressure.

Recommended parameters for airless spraying equipment:

Parameter Value
Operating Pressure, atm 110-240
Spraying Angle, degrees 20-40
Diameter of the feed hose, mm 10
Length of the feed hose, m 15-30
Recommended nozzles 227-237, 327-337, 427-437
Equipment HYVST EPT 7300 or equivalent
*The specified parameters may vary depending on the capabilities of the equipment, configurations, and designs used.

Application of the Primer Layer

Dilute the mastic with clean tap water up to 30% by weight to prepare the primer solution. Apply the primer solution of mastic with a wet film thickness of up to 300 µm. Control the wet film thickness using a comb-type wet film thickness gauge according to GOST R 51694. Wait for 12 to 24 hours and ensure that the primer layer of the mastic has dried and is not sticky.

Application of the Main Layers

Apply subsequent layers of mastic with a wet film thickness of 500-550 µm with intervals between layers of 12 to 24 hours, depending on the drying time of the layer.

When applying to complex areas, junctions, and protrusions, it is recommended to reinforce the mastic application with fiberglass mesh or geotextile.

Apply the product in at least 2 layers. The thickness of each wet layer is 500-550 µm.

The time required to achieve operational properties of the coating is 7 days at a temperature of 25°C.

Problems and Their Solutions

Problem

The airless spray gun does not spray the product.

Solution

Replace the nozzle with a larger diameter one, dilute the product with water to reduce viscosity. If the problem persists, apply the product using a roller.

Problem

The product drips when applied to vertical surfaces.

Solution

Possible cause — applying a thick layer. Distribute the mastic over a larger area using a roller. In the future, reduce the layer of mastic application.

Transportation and Storage Conditions

The product should be transported at a temperature ranging from +5°C to +25°C using all types of transport in covered vehicles, following the cargo transportation regulations applicable to each mode of transport. The integrity of the packaging must be maintained, securely fixing it to prevent damage or leaks.

Store the product in covered warehouse facilities in the original sealed packaging, ensuring it is protected from moisture.

Storage temperature: from +5°C to +25°C.

The guaranteed shelf life, when recommended conditions are adhered to, is 6 months from the production date.

After the expiration of the shelf life, the product should be checked for compliance with technical specifications, and if found suitable, it can still be used for its intended purpose.
